ESTABLISHED IN 1988, WE DEFINE LONGEVITY.
We’re proud to have been in business for 30 years – a testament to our outstanding client relationships, gifted team and dedication to innovation, which have kept us at the top of our profession despite the ever-changing world we live in.
Vintage was formed by founding partners Paul Adams and Adrian Tate using their vision for a bold, forward-thinking financial advice firm putting clients at the heart of all decision making.
The firm was built on pillars of integrity, trust, collaboration and professionalism, values which still hold strong today and means that 30 years later, not only is the business still going strong but has retained many original clients and members of staff.
The business was located on Bedford Street in central Middlesbrough, an office which is remembered fondly for its quirk and character.
By 2002, Vintage had outgrown the Bedford Street premises and so the 7-strong team moved on to Waterloo House, Stockton, situated on the banks of the river Tees. The modern offices were a far cry from the small terrace building which had originally been called home.
Vintage would remain on the riverside for 14 years in an office which saw the firm almost double in size. Many of the team remain today.
Steven Hodgson Makes Partner
After joining the firm in 1992 as a Trainee Financial Adviser, Steven Hodgson’s hard work and dedication were rewarded as he became a partner in the firm. Now, alongside Paul Adams, he would begin to set the direction the firm would take and would go on to become one of the most qualified advisers in the country, gaining Fellowship status with the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Vintage becomes Chartered
In 2011 Vintage was awarded the coveted corporate Chartered Status by the Chartered Insurance Institute.
The status is a symbol of a firm’s desire to improve standards of knowledge, behaviour and levels of professionalism within the financial planning profession and a commitment to an overall standard of excellence to customers, partners and employees.
The firm is reassessed each year to ensure that it continues to meet the strict criteria.
Sam Tate becomes Managing Partner
Sam Tate initially joined the Vintage team in the year 2000 in a support capacity but swiftly went on to become one of the youngest qualified advisers in the country. In 2005 Sam left to fulfil an ambition to travel before moving to London for several years.
In 2011, Sam returned to Vintage, originally taking up the position of Business Development Manager, spearheading the rapid development and growth of the firm and in 2016 was appointed as the firm’s Managing Partner.
By 2016, the team had grown to double figures and had again outgrown our premises. This time the firm remained in Stockton-on-Tees but moved to the modern luxury of Lockheed Court, within easy reach of the A66 and surrounding areas.
The years ahead would see the addition of Lisa Tipton as lead Paraplanner, quickly becoming Head of Analysis and Compliance and taking charge of the now six-strong team.
In October 2018 Vintage will celebrate their 30th year in business – a title not many can claim. This success is attributed to strong relationships, a dedicated team and steadfast leadership.
The firm has been diligent in investing for the future, adopting the latest technology and ideas to provide a service which will endure.
